Wall to Wall Bach
Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, Symphony Space, at 11:00 am

Symphony Space celebrates its 30th season, with a tribute to the very first Wall to Wall which opened the doors of the boarded-up theater to the public and offered a marathon of music by Bach.

The artists perfoming in the Fest are too nermous to mention, but includes the American Symphony Orchestra (under the baton of Maestro Leon Botstein) and a slew of artists performing Preludes, Fugues, Cantatas, Suites, Concerti, Sonatas and more, concluding with a resounding performance of the b minor Mass.

The concert is free, starting at 11:30 am, ending?

Music for Philip II

Music for the Capilla Flamenca by Pierre de Manchicourt

Manchicourt, court composer of Philip II of Spain, has been long overshadowed by his more familiar contemporaries, Gombert, Clemens non Papa and Crecquillon. As composer to Philip's Flemish chapel, Manchicourt wrought music of great beauty; sonorous rich, and mysterious, composed fittingly for the chapel of a King.

Lukas Ligeti & Colleen
Merkin Concert Hall, Kaufman Center, at 8:30 pm

Lukas Ligeti   •   Colleen

Composer and percussionist Lukas Ligeti fuses disparate elements (African polyrhythms, non-tempered tuning, pop melodies) to create an infectious cross-cultural sound.

French composer and performer Colleen filters minimalist qualities of early music through live electronics and found instruments, including her favored electric viola da gamba.
